A Brief History

C Class 0-6-0 592

Heritage Painting began with Ian Hewitt volunteering at the East Lancashire Railway, where Ian Riley passed on tips and hints about the art of coach painting. During the first few years, Riley & Son also offered the newly formed Heritage Painting a home base to work from.

Signwriting

Mike o’ Connor Joined Heritage Painting after around six months as Ian required the services of a signwriter. Not much later, Mike introduced his daughter to Ian, and she was taken on as an apprentice. Andrew joined in 2016 for a short period to ‘learn the ropes’ and then re-joined in 2019.

Black 5 Locomotive No. 45407

With Heritage Painting closing Mike was approached by Ian Riley as he did not want to see the 'business lost from the industry.' A decision was made which would allow Heritage Painting to continue under the banner of Riley & Son, maintaining the highest quality of service.
